Each member of the posse is required to qualify with their personal handgun twice a year. They also qualify with a shotgun.

In order to train for emergencies, mock search and rescues are conducted at least once a year. More than just posse members participate in this training evolution, though.

Local law enforcement help out and tracking dogs are also brought out to get in some practice.
